Pour bien débuter cette année 2023, Egregore Collective revient avec un second vinyle sur le label principal. Cette fois, nous plongeons au plus profond d’un océan d’accords réverbérés, de spirales d’échos et de tonalités apaisantes. Pour cette nouvelle incursion dans le domaine du vinyle, au titre approprié de “Tones and Echoes”, nous avons fait appel à 5 spécialistes de la dub musique sous ses formes les plus profondes.

C’est l’allemand Another Channel qui ouvre le bal. Avec des apparitions régulières sur des labels très respectés dans le genre tels que Moonshine Recordings ou encore Modern Hypnosis, il entame les choses en douceur avec une ballade dub apaisante.

Vient ensuite le viennois Mantsche, accompagné de son partenaire Bishop, avec un riddim plus profond, impactant et mélancolique, qui culmine en un second drop stepper qui vous fera skanker pour sûr.

La clôture de la face A est assurée par Masis, collaborateur récent d’Another Channel sur Moonshine Recordings. Il nous amène dans un registre plus profond et minimaliste avec un dub lo-fi ponctué de vocaux qui nous rappellent la destination finale de cette sortie ainsi que le titre du morceau : “Mount Zion”.

Sur la seconde face nous avons un roster 100% Toulousain, avec en premier l’énigmatique Stefan Dubs. Pilier de la scène illégale et underground de la ville rose avec le collectif Folklore, il décline une fois de plus sa production méditative, saturée, et parfois hypnotique, une ode aux fêtes dans le maquis.

On termine avec notre Stacktrace, qui entre deux bangers dancehall nous livre un track progressif, étincelant de shakers cliquetants et roulements de percussions, et comme à son habitude culminant en un second drop singulier avec une mélodie de bassline qui vous restera en tête.

Kicking off 2023, Egregore Collective is back with a second vinyl release on the main label. This time, we’re diving deep, spiraling down in a sea of reverberated chords and soothing noises. For this new foray in the physical realm, appropriately titled “Tones and Echoes”, we called upon 5 specialists of the deepest forms of dub music.

Opening the record is Germany’s very own Another Channel. With regular appearances on respected labels of the genre such as Moonshine Recordings or Modern Hypnosis, he delivers a laid back dub ballad to kick things off smoothly.

Following up is Vienna based Mantsche, tagging along his mate Bishop with a deeper, stomping and more melancholic sounding riddim, that slowly builds up to a powerful stepper second drop that’s guaranteed to make you skank.

Closing the A side of the record is Masis, a previous collaborator of Another Channel on Moonshine Recordings. He takes us on a deeper tip with a dusty, minimalistic and lo-fi sounding dub punctuated by vocals chanting the name of the track as well as the final destination of this journey : “Mount Zion”.

On the other side, we have an all-Toulouse roster, starting with the enigmatic Stefan Dubs. Essential component of the illegal and underground scene here in Toulouse with the collective Folklore, he once again showcases his trademark meditative, saturated, and sometimes hypnotic aesthetic with another ode to forest raves in the maquis.

Rounding off the record is our own Stacktrace, taking a break from his dancehall bangers to go back to his roots and sign off on a highly progressive tune, sparkled with clicking shakers and drum rolls, and as always building into a very different second drop with a bassline melody that will stick to your head.
